The aim of the course is to introduce students to technical terminology relating to the field of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering through the use of texts from a variety of sources. More specifically, the course focuses on:
- Familiarizing students with technical terminology specific to their discipline.
- Analyzing the linguistic features of academic writing.
- Examining the structure and language of journal articles and popular science/newspaper articles.
- Examining the features of other academic genres, such as abstracts and literature reviews.
