Christos Orfanos is an Assistant Professor at the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, in the field of “Subsurface Investigation Methods.” He holds a Diploma in Engineering (2003) from the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, as well as a PhD (2011) in Applied Geophysics from the same institution. He has worked in private sector companies as a Mining Engineer on technical projects (2010–2014) and as a Mining Engineer–Geophysicist (2015–2026) in the field of Hydrocarbon and Mineral exploration. He has extensive professional experience in geophysical and geotechnical investigations and has participated in numerous projects in Greece and abroad as researcher or scientific supervisor.
Ηis main research interests include geophysical exploration of both deep and shallow structures, using various geophysical methods and their integrated interpretation with borehole data across a wide range of geotechnical, mining, geothermal, environmental, and other applications. He has participated in numerous National and European research programs and has published more than 40 papers in reputable scientific journals and conference proceedings. He also serves as a reviewer for international scientific journals and is a member of professional and scientific organizations in the field.
