The Geophysical Survey (seismics-gravity-magnetics) for Geothermal Exploration in Lesvos (Mytilene) Island has started since the 11th of October 2024. The survey is coordinated by NTUA \u2013 School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering and its Applied Geophysics Laboratory<\/a> supported by geoscientists of NKUA (Geology Dept<\/a>) in collaboration with Uppsala University and its Applied Geophysics Group<\/a> supported by GEUS<\/a>. The project is sponsored by PPC Renewables<\/a>. All involved in the project consider important to provide most of the information to the youngsters both for Geothermal Exploration as well as for Applied Geophysics, so we initially visited the local high school of Kalloni for some presentations. Students there had the chance to meet Professors, PostDocs and Researchers, PhD students and University students and share interests. The field data acquisition has started fortunately in good (excellent) weather in the island. Locals have warmly accepted our activity. National TV station (ERT3) had live connection<\/a> with interviews and show of the seismic data acquisition with the hundreds of Uppsala nodes and the bright new GEUS vibroseis of 17tn. Energy diversity and geothermal exploration has become important in Europe. The collaboration of NTUA, UU, NKUA and GEUS is a pilot study for future collaborations in geothermal exploration.
