Born in Pyrgos, Ilia, Greece, in 1959. He holds a degree in Physics (1982, University of Athens), a Master's degree (1984, University of Leeds) and a Doctorate (1993, University of Athens) in Applied Geophysics. He worked as a Scientific Consultant at the GSRT (1994-2000, PAVE Program Manager, member of the RTD PMAC Committee of the European Commission), as an Operational Scientist at the NDC and Technical Director at the Hellenic Innovation Redistribution Center (2000-2002). From 2002 until today he is a faculty member at NTUA, at the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering, currently Professor in Applied Geophysics. He has supervised theses and doctoral dissertations (either as a supervisor or a member of the seven-member committee) related to Applied Geophysics and engineering issues. The main scientific interest is the application of Applied Geophysics in small and medium depth studies (topics: engineering, environmental, archaeological and geothermal) supported by the respective Lab. He has published in the major journals of the subject (Geophysics, Journal of Applied Geophysics, Near Surface Geophysics, Tectonophysics, Journal of Archaeological Exploration). He was (elected) Chairman of the Near Surface Division Committee and a member of the Board of the EAGE in the period 2018-2019. Member of HGU, BGS, EAGE, SEG Associations.
